But no, Nexus was printed at *instant* speed. The ill-fated buy-a-box promo is another example where just one word would have fixed a card. At the end of the day, OkoвЂ™s power level was too high for his mana cost. Unfortunately, Oko slotted right into pioneer where he continued to dominate, taking his entire standard deck with him. Long enough for standard players to get sick of him before getting kicked out. This let Simic Oko decks run wild, because Oko was too strong to effectively counter.ДЄs an avid fan and player of standard, I believe Oko is single-handedly responsible for making standard unpopular this season. When it comes to standard, Oko managed to avoid the ban for the first round of bannings. The major new additions are Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Jadelight Ranger, but otherwise it's very similar. Same Nissa, same Oko, same wicked wolf, same Hydriod Krasis. ItвЂ™s the same list thatвЂ™s been top of standard tables since Eldraine dropped. If youвЂ™ve been playing standard some time in the last 3 months that Devotion list will look familiar. Top of the meta right now are two flavours of Simic - Simic Devotion and Simic Aggro.
